Andhra Paper Limited has focused Forestry Research program to enhance the productivity of land by developing and introducing high yielding clones and improved seeds of pulpwood species. The research also includes introduction of agro-climate based new clones and improved seed lots. At the same time, focuses on reduction in rotation period. The R&D also emphasizes on reduction in plantation input cost through innovative research.
Working towards this direction, the company has collaborated with Institute of Forest Genetics & Tree Breeding (IFGTB), Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu in 2018 and taken up continuous efforts for enhancement of land productivity and plantation cost reduction.
Forestry R&D projects have been broadly classified as follows:
Field trials of Casuarinain different soil types were established to study growth and yield of new clones.
Spacing trials for Casuarina & Leucaena (Subabul) were established to standardize the optimum spacing for Casuarina/Leucaenaplanting to get maximum yield.
Agro - forestry trial plantations for Casuarina were established to study additional income from inter crop vis-a-vis the solo crop.
